Autumn Outing

The calendar has turned the page to Autumn season.....and a favorite season for so many.  It is a time when people find their favorite outdoor activities to gather their friends and family together to share a relaxing time in the outdoors.

Photography comes to my mind, quickly, taking a country road drive to unknown places, in hopes of catching that special light, or shadow, a surprise wild animal, or unusual flower, but most of all the changing color of leaves and fields.

This summer I seemed to need a break from photography, whether it was from lack of interest, or just enjoying other hobbies.  And now, it's fun to once again pick up the camera, and even try out new techniques.  One I've always been interested in is black and white, film like images.  I often gravitate toward the look of the 50's and 60's, and will test out adjustments in Lightroom to achieve a special look.

This past weekend, I watched several YouTube from one of my favorite Fujifilm photographers, Kevin Mullins, and attempted setting up a couple of in camera black and white settings to save in the quick menu.  More experimentation is needed, so I'll be shooting b/w in camera to see how they turn out.

On the country road drive yesterday, we found a bird sanctuary.  We pulled into the little parking area to check out what was there.  It was evening, so not much activity from birds, but this black cat was sitting there just watching.  Ferrel cats don't care for humans, and this was as close as I could get for a photo before he scampered into the woods.  Dan said, he probably knows every trail in those woods.  This would be a fun place to visit during the day, when the birds are out looking for seeds and bugs, and singing their special songs.
